Climate-Smart Kitchen Gardens Campaign
So every child has the chance to grow healthy and strong.
“I’ve been coming to Chogoria each year since 2018, and have seen firsthand the incredible work that is done by the Village HopeCore staff. I’m a monthly donor because of their positive impact on the community- both in terms of improving health and in providing financial opportunities to families. I return from Kenya every year inspired by their enthusiasm and belief in what they do.”
Imagine having a sick child at home, or a loved one who needs medical attention, but the biggest question is not where to get care. It is whether you can afford it.
For many families in Tharaka Nithi County, this is their reality.
36% of residents live below the poverty line. When illness strikes, many families face an impossible choice: pay for healthcare or provide food for their loved ones. No family should have to forgo essential healthcare because of financial hardship.
This is why we established the HopeCore Community Clinic in 2012 for vulnerable families to access affordable, compassionate, quality healthcare.
Through the clinic, families receive essential services including maternal and child healthcare, immunization, nutrition support, health screenings, outpatient care, and health education.
Trusted as a healthcare provider, the HopeCore Community Clinic has served more than 33,000 clients. But more families means the need continues to grow.
We invite you, our partners, friends, and supporters, to join us in strengthening our HopeCore Community Clinic. Help us keep lifesaving care within reach for those who need it most.
Promoting Menstrual Dignity for Underprivileged Schoolgirls
Imagine this: a girl wakes up early in the morning, excited to go to school, only to realize that her period has started. The fear of embarrassment at school due to a lack of sanitary pads overwhelms her, and she ends up staying at home, missing the next three to four days of school.
This unfortunate reality affects countless girls every month, forcing them to miss up to 20% of their school days every year. The cycle of absenteeism robs girls of their dignity and education as they fall behind in school, lose valuable opportunities, and face greater barriers to their future success.
Breaking the Absenteeism Cycle
Village HopeCore International is committed to breaking the absenteeism cycle by 60% by reaching underprivileged schoolgirls and providing each girl with a dignity kit, containing 12 sanitary pads for an entire year, two pairs of underwear, and educational materials.
Through this initiative, HopeCore seeks to promote girls' menstrual dignity directly, ensuring they can all stay in school and pursue their education with confidence.
Join us in growing nutrition, confidence, and healthier futures for children at home and in schools. Donate today and help bring this life-changing initiative to life.
Our Goal: We aim to establish climate-smart gardens in 200 households and 200 schools — turning these spaces into hubs of real change, where moms, dads, teachers, and kids can say with pride, "We grew this. We can feed ourselves.’’
It’s simple, sustainable, and life-changing. This is the kind of impact we aim to achieve through our climate-smart kitchen gardens initiative, supporting households and schools while strengthening communities against the challenges of climate and food insecurity.
Why These Climate-Smart Kitchen Gardens Matter:
Climate-smart kitchen gardens provide:
More healthy meals for pregnant mothers
Better nutrition for growing children
Healthier eating for families while spending less on food
Strong communities, even when the climate is unpredictable
These gardens do more than provide food — they help families and schools adapt to unpredictable weather and rising food costs, while teaching the value of nutrition and self-sufficiency.
