Celebrating 25 Years of Hope and Impact: HopeCore’s Silver Jubilee Milestone

These powerful words echoed through the air on July 21, 2025, as we gathered to celebrate a milestone—25 years of unwavering service, transformative growth, and lasting impact.
It was more than an anniversary; it was a tribute to the people, the purpose, and the vision that shaped the journey of Village HopeCore International.
From Vision to Action: 25 Years of Delivering Change
Yes, it started with a dream. As a child, Dr. Kajira K. Mugambi Esq., the founder of HopeCore, envisioned healthier and more economically empowered communities. This dream, inspired by his childhood experiences and rooted in compassion and determination, has grown into Village HopeCore International. This organization stands today as a beacon of transformation, resilience, and hope for communities on the Eastern Slopes of Mt. Kenya.
“I didn’t want to leave my village behind,” Dr. Kajira shared. “I wanted to return with solutions—real, practical tools to help my people live with dignity, hope, and opportunity.”

Since its founding in 2000 in Chogoria, Kenya, HopeCore has grown remarkably—from supporting just 12 resource-poor women with a modest $5,000 budget, generously donated by Dr. Phil Rasori, a long-time partner and champion of Dr. Kajira Mugambi’s vision, to now reaching over 425,000 community members with an estimated annual budget of approximately $1 million.

HopeCore’s mission is guided by a simple yet powerful model: the three-legged African stool for poverty eradication. Each leg represents a key focus area—disease prevention and healthcare, income generation, and education and capacity building. Together, these pillars drive our Micro Enterprise and Public Health programs, which have transformed lives and empowered communities throughout the years.
