The Care Campaign: Together for Healthier Communities
No family should have to choose between putting food on the table and getting life-saving healthcare for a loved one.
Yet for thousands of families in Tharaka Nithi County, this is an everyday reality. With 36% of residents living below the poverty line and nearly half of all children growing up in absolute poverty, even a simple visit to the clinic can feel out of reach. For them, accessing healthcare is not only a question of distance: it is a question of affordability.
When illness strikes, families are forced to make impossible decisions. Do they buy food for the week, or pay for transport to the clinic? Do they seek medical care now, or hope the illness goes away on its own because there simply isn't enough money?
These difficult choices have real consequences. A child with a fever may not receive treatment until the illness becomes severe. An expectant mother may miss essential antenatal visits because every shilling is needed for basic household needs. Conditions that could have been prevented or treated early often become life-threatening simply because care was out of reach.

HopeCore Community Clinic brings Hope and Care
At Village HopeCore International, we believe that quality healthcare is a basic human need, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy.
This belief led to the establishment of HopeCore Community Clinic in 2012, a place where vulnerable families can access affordable, compassionate healthcare without the fear of overwhelming costs.
Registered and licensed by the Kenya Ministry of Health, the clinic provides essential services including outpatient care, maternal and child health, immunization, nutrition support, family planning, cancer screening, hypertension screening, vision care, health education, and community outreach.
Affordability is at the heart of the clinic. Patients pay only KES 50 for students and children under five and KES 100 for adults, while consultations and many essential services are provided free of charge, ensuring that even the most vulnerable families can receive the care they need.
HopeCore Community Clinic has cared for more than 33,093 clients, with annual patient visits increasing by 184% since 2015. Women make up nearly six out of every ten patients, many seeking maternal healthcare they may not otherwise afford.
These numbers represent more than patients; they represent families who found care, hope, and support when they needed it most.

As the community's healthcare needs continue to grow, so does the demand for quality services. Being a trusted facility and recognized for its integrated child and family health services, the clinic now serves families beyond its immediate community, including those traveling from neighboring areas of Meru County. This growing reach is a reminder of the lives depending on the clinic; more families continue to rely on HopeCore Community Clinic than ever before, increasing the need for improved infrastructure, reliable medical supplies, and greater capacity to provide timely, high-quality care.
Through our Care Campaign, we invite partners, friends, and supporters to help ensure that no family is denied healthcare because of poverty. Over the next six months (July–December 2026), we aim to raise $62,780 (approximately KES 8.12 million) to keep quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare within reach.
